City of Childersburg was unable to complete garbage route on Friday 07/07/17 due to equipment issues. Sanitation crew will work on Saturday to complete cycle for pick up. The City of Childersburg request that residents leave garbage curbside for crew to remove Saturday 07/08/17. Please be patient as Sanitation Department works to get back on schedule.

The City of Childersburg Historic Preservation Commission is seeking bids for construction of 2,600+/- square foot concrete patio pad and necessary excavation for project detail. The site of Rainwater-Butler Museum is located at 1001 1st Street S.W. Bids must be sealed and received by July 10, 2017 at City Hall, Childersburg.

Garbage Exemption 2016-2017

It's that time again. The City of Childersburg is doing something else for its citizens.

As per City Ordinance No. 1026 adopted November 5, 2001, some Childersburg residents may be eligible for garbage exemption or reduction in fee amount by meeting the following application criteria. A citizen must meet one or two of three requirements. They are: A.) The Head of Household in whose name the utility meter is listed is age 65 or older. B.) The total combined monthly income of all individuals living in said residence cannot exceed $850.00 per month. C.) The sole income is derived from Social Security Benefits, Supplimental Security Income, or a combination of the two.

Meeting requirements A and B qualifies the applicant for reduction of fees. Persons meeting requirement C qualifies for exemption.

During the months of September and October, the City of Childersburg will be accepting applications from individuals for both new and renewal accounts that meet the named qualifications for reduction or exemption.

Applications may be picked up from City Hall located at 201 8th Avenue SW from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Proof of all income and a copy of your utility bill in your name are required. Also, applications with supporting documents may be mailed to P.O. Box 369.
